10 tips to increase the battery life of your smartphone

Though smartphone technology progressing day by day, there exist a common problem that the battery life has no progress. Most of the situations we are forced to carry a secondary battery to use smartphone. But if we care about some matters in our phone, we could increase our phone’s battery life.
1. Turn off the Auto Brightness option. And always keep low or medium brightness. High brightness consumes a lot of battery.
2. Close apps after use. Most of the time we minimize the program by clicking home button (including me) to reach home instantly. But the apps still works. Apps running background like this consumes a lot of battery. We didn’t get any benefits from running background apps, only the loss of battery. So close the apps after using. And also always kept ram clean. By long pressing home button we could get task manager and drag apps not in use. Thus we could free ram and kill background apps. 
Note : In some devices, mostly with Android KitKat 4.4, long pressing home button is not possible to open task manager. In this situation long press the options button. Then release some memory.
3. Use vibration only when needed. Other times turn off vibration.
4. Reduce screen timeout. (15 seconds maybe appropriate). Reducing screen timeout can save a lot of energy.
5. If you noticed that your battery was damaged, then contact your nearest authorized service center. Do not use batteries or any other phone equipment by unauthorized shops.
6. Turn off notification mode only when needed. Turn phone into sleeping mode or blocking mode when not in use.
7. Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Mobile Data when not in use. These features especially WiFi and GPS consumes lot of battery.
8. Use power saving mode
9. Deactivate auto updater in Play Store. To deactivate auto update, go to play store, then click options in sidebar or press options button, then click settings. Here you can turn off auto updater.                                                                       Update apps manually only when needed.
10. Use battery saver apps like Go Power Master, Battery Doctor, DU Battery Saver etc.

How to enable USB Debugging and Developer option in Android 4.2 and Higher

If you’re having an android device with running Android 4.2 or Android 4.3 you might be wondering where the developer options went. For most of the customizations you will need to enable the USB debugging on your phone. In all the previous android versions you can simply hop into the settings menu and go to developer options submenu to enable the USB debugging. But in the latest versions of android, Google has hidden the developer options so that people with less knowledge won’t mess up their devices.
Anyway if you have been trying to figure out the way to enable USB debugging don’t search any more. Here are the steps to enable the Developer Options on your phone.

How to enable Developer Options submenu(USB Debugging) on Android 4.2 and higher

1. Go to Settings menu on your device.
2. Go to About Phone submenu. In some devices the About submenu will be under “More”/”General” submenu. On some other devices (mostly HTC devices you will have to goto Settings> About> Software Information> More)
3. Now scroll to “Build Number” and tap it 7 times.
4. After tapping 7 times you will see an alert saying “You are now a developer”/”Developer mode has been enabled”.
5. Now if you go to your Settings menu, you will see the developer options submenu over there.
6. Tap on the Developer options and then turn on USB Debugging.

What is Bootloader and How to Unlock Bootloader

If you are among the people who often flash new Roms on your phone or are thinking of rooting and flashing a new rom, then you must have certainly come across the term Bootloader. Many android phone manufacturers such as Htc and Sony set up a bootloader lock on the phone to prevent the user from directly modifying the system.

If you want to flash a custom Rom on your device, you must first unlock your bootloader to prevent bricking your phone. Bootloader is a partition in the system which contains important data related to how your system works. You must overwrite this partition with a modified version in order to flash custom recovery and custom Roms.
The best part of unlocking bootloader is that you can do this officially. No need to make any unofficial modifications. Today we are sharing how to Unlock Bootloader for HTC and Sony devices.

Why Should I Unlock my Bootloader?

Bootloader is an essential part of your system which takes care of your Android system’s security. Bootloader is a system security setup which makes sure that no one modifies the required Rom files. Making changes in the system can cause unstability and/or brick conditions. In most situations, you cannot install a custom ROM on your device without unlocking the bootloader. Manufacturer’s such as HTC, Sony, Motorola, etc set up a bootloader lock to prevent the user from modifying the system. But you can unlock the Bootloader to get full access to system partition. 

You do not need to unlock bootloader to root a device. But you should root your smartphone before unlocking the bootloader.

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER FOR HTC DEVICES-

1. Go to HTC Developers website and make your free developer account.
2. Confirm your account using your email account.
3. Get back to HTC Dev site and log in to your account.
4. You can have a look at the instructions given by HTC. Keep in mind that unlocking your bootloader might void your warranty.
5. Now, Select your device from the drop-down box at right side of the screen. If you can’t find your device, select “All other supported devices”. [Recommended- Make a google search to ensure that your specific device can be unlocked officially.]
6. Accept the terms and continue.
7. Follow the easy steps 1-4. Follow the Step 5 or download the files from Epiblog.in
8. Copy the 3 Files to a new folder “Android” in C drive.
9. If you know how to operate Command Prompt, the just move to the “Android” folder using cd command. If you don’t have much knowledge of CMD, then you can try this method. Go to the folder where you have saved the files, right click while pressing the Shift button. Click on “Open command window here”
10. Make sure your phone is connected in fastboot mode. On the cmd screen type ” fastboot oem get_identifier_token “. Follow the next steps from the developer’s website and paste the token in the box. Copy the token code as shown in step 9 on the HtcDev site.
11. You will soon get an email from HTC containing an attachment. Download the file and paste it in the “Android folder” that we created in step 8.
12. Follow the steps as mentioned in the link provided in the email. You might not encounter any difficulty after getting the attachment.
13. You system might be Factory reset after unlocking the bootloader. Make sure you have a back-up.

Note: You can also try the easier Bootloader Unlocker too by glevitan. Make sure you read the post before using it.

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER FOR SONY DEVICES-

1. Go to Sony Bootloader Unlock website.
2. Have a look at the Terms and conditions and start the Unlock bootloader process.
3. First make sure your bootloader is unlockable. Dial  *#*#7378423#*#*  on your phone. A pop-up will appear on the screen. Follow the path- Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says “Yes” then you can surely unlock your bootloader. If it’s blank or it says a “No”, then unfortunately your device’s bootloader cannot be unlocked officially.
4. Click “Continue” and fill the form with your IMEI number. [Dial *#06# to get your IMEI number.]
5. You will soon receive a mail from Sony. Make sure you check your spam box 😉
6. Make sure you save your Bootloader key.
7. Download Android SDK and the required file. Unzip the required file and place it in the path- Android SDK > extras > google
8. Your computer is all set! Now reboot your phone in Fastboot mode and connect it to your PC. You might need to make a Google search as ” ‘MODEL NUMBER’ Fastboot mode”
9. You computer might ask for drivers. Point it to the file that we had unzipped.
10. Download Fastboot and Adb drivers and place it in your C: in a new “Android” folder.
11. Open a Command Prompt window and direct it to the android folder that we just created.If you dont have much knowledge of cmd, then you can try this method. Go to the folder where you have saved the files, right click while pressing the Shift button. Click on “Open command window here”
12. Type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version in the cmd window and make sure you get a response back (for example “0.3”). This ensures that your device is connected properly to the PC.
13. If you get a positive response, type fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY in cmd. Here, KEY refers to the bootloader key that you received in the mail.
14. Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked your bootloader.

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER FOR LG DEVICES-

1.  Download the LG Bootloader unlocker.
2. Extract the files in a folder.
3. Connect your device to the computer and run the “BL_unlock.bat” file.
4. This must unlock your bootloader!
5. This has not been tested by me. Please try at your own risk 😀
